Vintage hardcover First Edition April, 1923 stated Twenty-first Printing of “The Story of Mankind” by Hendrik Van Loon. Fully illustrated with 8 three-color pages, over 100 black and white pictures and numerous animated maps and half-tones drawn by the author.
The front cover has a paper label color map illustration.
“The Story of Mankind’ (1921) is a history of the world intended for children, which won the first Newbery Medal in 1922. Van Loon had an informal and thought-provoking style which included personal anecdotes.
Condition is used. There is overall wear on front and back covers including corner bending, wrinkling, edge wear, fading, scratching and soiling. Some interior pages have small tears, foxing, yellowing and light creasing as shown in photos. There is an ink inscription on the interior front cover. No writing in book.
Measures approximately 6-1/4” x 9-1/4”. 489 pages.
